What this assumes

  • Effective annual return converted to a monthly rate. Contributions arrive at the end of each month.
  • Constant growth is an illustration. Market returns vary and losses are possible.
  • Taxes, fees, expense ratios, exit loads and inflation are excluded.
  • The contribution increases annually after 12 payments. Contribution rounding is to paise; investment growth is not rounded along the way.

Formula and worked example

Use the SIP monthly recurrence. After each 12 contributions, multiply the monthly contribution by (1 + step-up ÷ 100) and round it to the nearest paise.

₹1,000 a month in year one and ₹1,100 in year two contributes ₹25,200. At an assumed 12% effective annual return, modelled value is approximately ₹28,075 after two years.
